Holistic wellness is NOT a synonym for alternative therapies and does NOT condone skipping your annual physicals and disregarding the recommendations of your physician. Holistic wellness IS a complementary practice that integrates Eastern and Western medicine incorporating a healthy lifestyle in addition to your medical treatment. Here at Spirit Life, we do this by using evidence-based research and science, and by looking at the whole person and addressing physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual and environmental factors to heal the root cause of illness and promote overall wellness. Acupuncture is a technique involving the insertion of tiny needles into strategic points throughout the body in order to balance one’s life force energy, or qi (pronounced “chee”). Although it originated in Eastern and Chinese medicine, many Western practitioners encourage it as a complementary treatment for various symptoms. Be sure to check with your physician before starting acupuncture, as it is contraindicated under certain circumstances such as pregnancy and certain bleeding disorders.
