Reflection Of 2017

You may be tired by now of hearing about how crazy 2017 has been for me and all the challenges I have struggled through this year…but I made sure to end it on a positive note and think it’s just as important to share that as well. During this month of December, I made a trip down to Atlanta to spend time with my family, caught up with all of my best friends there, played in the snow, celebrated the holidays of both Ismaili and Christian culture, turned another year older and wiser with minimalism and donating for my birthday, embraced the love I will always have for my baby sister and celebrated her life, and reconnected with the peace I have within myself as well as with my husband after one year of marriage.

This year has taken me from my previous home, job and sister but brought a new city, new family, new job, amazing travels, and a husband who I grow to love more and more each day. I read some amazing life-changing books such as the Power of Now, started cooking for the first time, moved forward in my minimalism journey and made a difference by personally donating to the homeless in the streets of downtown Houston with my husband, and switched my blog platform to be able to connect with so many more people that brings me joy everyday. I’ve survived tremendous loss, new beginnings which brought personal growth, the longest and worst hurricane I’ve ever seen, and the most memorable and unforgettable year of my life thus far.

The most important lesson I’ve been reminded of is that you live your whole life in your mind- and it is entirely up to you whether you make it a hellish prison or a heavenly sanctuary- there are a million things you cannot control, but you can always control your mind and make your life your very own story. I honestly never thought I’d be where I am today, with the knowledge and experiences I’ve undergone, but I guess it’s really true what they say: nothing lasts forever and everything is always okay in the end. I do not have a single regret and cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store!

Wishing all my followers a wonderful new year filled with peace, faith, love, health, and success in every sense of the word- may you all find the strength to push through hard times and the appreciation of all of your blessings during good times! Here are just a few of my favorite moments from this year!

“Life will make you happy, but first it will make you strong.”
