Sound Sanctuary

Sanctuary: A small, safe place in a troubled world.

Music is my sanctuary. It is truly the language of the soul, an expression of faith and of being and of self at the core. Music can be nothing and everything at the same time, and accomplish things that nothing else can do in quite the same way. It can take me to my past memories and provide hope for the future. Music is, perhaps, the one power of expression that just may be stronger than the written word, perhaps because it can be so difficult to understand in the mind, but the true emotion it provokes can never be expressed into any other medium other than music itself. Music is my small, safe place in a troubled world, because it makes me feel all of who I am and what life is about within the big picture of my faith.

“Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to lonliness” -Maya Angelou

“One good thing about music is when it hits you feel no pain”-Bob Marley

“Music is the spiritual expression of what I am-My faith, my knowledge, my being. When you begin to see the possibilities of music, you come alive and desire to do something really good for people, to help humanity free itself from its hangups, to speak to their souls.” -John Coltrane

“I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs, and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.” -George Eliott

“Ahh, music. A magic far beyond all we do here.” – Albus Dumbledore
