Resolution & The Return

One of my new years resolutions at the beginning of 2021 was to publish blog posts more regularly. The last time I posted on here was over 6 months ago. In the grand scheme of things, it may not seem like a long time, especially because I still journal in my drafts almost daily. But 6 months is the longest I have ever gone with publishing a blog post since I first started way back in 2010, and for someone like me who has grown up reading blogs and posting weekly for over a decade, 6 months has often felt like an eternity and my last “life update” post felt like an *actual* lifetime ago.

During these 6 months, my resolution to write a blog post has always been on the back of my mind – through leaving my dream job to pursue my business full time and then taking an almost 3 month hiatus from it all before considering going back, through the entire journey of getting our first pets, losing a pet, and getting a new pet, through a wonderful summertime honeymoon from LA to various parts of Hawaii, through numerous events and changes in my professional and personal life, and through seemingly insurmountable challenges in my personal growth journey – in the back of my mind I have always had the intention to post and stick with it…but we all know that resolutions are easier set than done.

“I don’t call them new year’s resolutions. I prefer the term, ‘casual promises to myself that I am under no legal obligation to fulfill'”.

I am actually not quite sure why I haven’t shared any of it up until now, but I presume it has something to do with how the internet and especially the blogging platform has changed significantly over the last decade. And I am certain I have mentioned this in one of my previous posts already, but this has also been in large part due to the pressure of finding the perfect time to write the perfect post for a much larger audience than I had 10 years ago. But then I also remember the conviction I had to never let that stop me from sharing my truth, because I have always stood firm in the belief that if it even helps one person in a positive way then it is already better than one thousand readers who are entirely unaffected.

That being said, I have decided today to return to the world of writing and blogging and sharing it all on here with you. Sure, Instagram has been great for business growth and Facebook has always been my first choice platform to share big news with family and friends and stay in touch with loved ones around the world. In this post-COVID world, I have found that the need for human connection and healing has been greater than ever before (at least during my lifetime), and I think this is why I also was so drawn to stay connected through social media. The irony is that social media is *literally* designed to keep us unfulfilled and addicted and that too often, social media can be the very thing that actually keep us so disconnected.

Over the years, as much as I’ve improved with social media balance and setting aside screen time limits for myself, the truth is that I am very much what I like to call, an “internet person”. You name it and I’ve tried it, from way back in the beginning with AIM, MySpace and Xanga, all the way to modern day Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest and more – a true millennial in the flesh. But these platforms, along with the many algorithm changes, all come and go and are ultimately never my own, and so writing and blogging continues to remain my internet home through it all. When you own your website, you have complete control of every single aspect without any rules, you can connect with others while staying as private or as public as you want, and you can always come back to it because it doesn’t disappear within 24 hours.

Now you may be thinking, what is the point of this post? We get it, you haven’t blogged in a long time but you’re a writer at heart and love it so much that you will always keep coming back.

Well, in all honesty, I am not sure. This post doesn’t add any significant value to change the trajectory of your life, it doesn’t contain any valuable advice or tips for self-improvement or lifestyle, nor it does provide any major life updates or details. So, I am not sure what exactly I was expecting to get from writing this today…other than the raw vulnerability and non-judgmental openness with which I aim to show up more regularly, the wholehearted gratitude I wanted to express to those of you who have still stuck with me all this time, and the pure and simple joy I get from just writing and sharing without the pressure of perfection weighing down my thoughts and words.

So what’s next, you ask? You can expect some more detailed life updates for those of you who are interested, some amazing travel footage from our adventures over this past summer, a beautiful tribute to our angel pet who recently crossed the rainbow bridge, and some truly valuable content covering self-growth and wellness, art and entertainment, business, lifestyle and so much more – because I’m back and I hope you’ll decide to stay here for it all.

PS – you can either way until new year’s to set a resolution or you can start right now, with me, on a cold and rainy mid-November Thursday evening. Happy fall, y’all!
