Homesick

My time studying abroad so far has been one of the best times of my entire life. I have learned and grown so much, and I’ve loved every minute. I’m proud of myself for adapting so well to a program so outside of my comfort zone and I would do it all again, exactly the same if I could. But, this is the first week I’ve been truly homesick. No matter how crazy and exciting my adventures abroad are, there is no place like home. After all of the traveling and meeting new people and trying new things, my favorite things in life are still to see the sun shining on the sea, green parks, fresh air, and people enjoying nature and each others company; I have had this all at home all along. The best things in life really are free, and they were always right in front of me. This last month abroad is mostly just about the “studying” part of studying abroad—the papers, projects, and finals—and I can’t wait to be done with it. I’m excited for some more traveling to popular places around Europe, but I’m most excited to be back with my family and friends in the warmth and comfort of my life in the place I call Home.
