Love Languages

I recently came across several posts on the book, “The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate”, by Gary Chapman. It speaks of five love languages consisting of gift giving, physical touch, acts of service/devotion, words of affirmation, and quality time. Chapman states that each individual has a primary and secondary love language, and that although most people tend to give love in the same way they wish to receive love, it may not be the same as their partner gives and receives love. For example, a woman may wish to spend quality time with her partner and hear words of affirmation to feel loved. However, her partner may have a different love language and desire acts of service and physical touch to feel equally loved. In this book, Chapman theorizes that observing the love language of your partner can promote a deeper understanding through which a relationship can be greatly enhanced. Many readers claim to have experienced greater depth and long-lasting satisfaction and fulfillment within their relationships by applying the concepts of the five love languages. Chapman also offers a quick 30-question quiz to help you understand your own love languages- check it out and let me know what you think!
